HCSS Telematics is a comprehensive GPS equipment-tracking solution that combines powerful software and hardware to help construction companies manage their entire mixed fleet. The interactive map feature enables Telematics users to monitor and track equipment in real time from their mobile devices, providing convenient, on-the-go access on both iPhone and iPad.

SUMMARY
Why did they choose to do this project?
Telematics currently provides an on-the-go mapping experience designed to give Fleet Managers convenient access to critical fleet information and improve the overall user experience. Built on Apple Maps, the experience integrates seamlessly with the native iOS system, making navigation familiar and intuitive.
The goal is to create a highly interactive map that provides granular location details along with relevant equipment information, such as current location, fuel level, engine hours, and other key fleet data.

Through primary research and direct customer interviews, I gathered some feedback based on their experience with the map web version. They want an easy yet practical map experience like how easy they use Google map but for equipment.
Following discussions with stakeholders, we decided to start with tracking equipment and have some priorities like, which equipment is nearby, cluster them on map for easy tracking, adding some interaction zoom in and out for easy information cognitive load
I created several sketches and potential solutions, working closely with stakeholders and the UX team to develop robust workflows. Validation interview with customers provided valuable insights that we missed, such as a warning notification for low fuel or the location is outside the geofence etc.
